It had turned dark before they got to the Rain Village, so they decided to rest up a bit. The three genin went to sleep right away.
"Yeah! Good job, Rakimaru!" a young boy’s voice came. “Again!” The dog yipped and jumped into the air. His owner yelled, “Man Beast Clone!” The dog turned into an image of his owner. They both ran up to their practice target, a large stump, which was really torn up. They attacked the target so swiftly, you couldn’t see the change in their direction. They stopped, finally, and the dog turned back to its original state. Kishomaru, even though he was out of breath, pumped his fist into the air. “Yeah! Great job, buddy!” He petted his dog while trying to catch his breath. “How come Rakimaru is so much bigger than Akamaru?” asked a small voice from behind a tree. Kiba stepped out, pouting, Akamaru right behind him. “I’ve been training day and night with him! He should at least be that size!” Kishomaru stared at Rakimaru, then at Akamaru, then back. “Wooooow. I didn’t know he got THAT big.” he cooed. “Yeah, he’s THAT big.” Kiba complained, “and you’re using some of my moves! Can’t you make up some of your own?!” Kishomaru hesitated. Of course he could, but why was he using some of his brother’s moves? Because he liked to, damn it. Plus, it would give him an advantage if they ever fought someday …
”Popuri-chaaaan!” a little girl yelled. “Whaaat? I’m busy!” Popuri yelled back. “B-but, Popuri-chaaaan! I want you to meet my new friend!” the girl yelled again. “Who?” Popuri asked, coming out of the house she was in. Tuana smiled at Popuri. “This is my new friend, Narcissia!” Narcissia waved at Popuri. “Koniciwa!” Popuri said, waving back.
“Popuri-chan!” an older Narcissia yelled. She waved. “So? Why’d you call me here? And why are you late?! I’ve been waiting for half an hour!” “I’m sorry.” Popuri said, and looked down. “And I’m sorry what has to be done.” “What are you talking about, Popuri-chan?” Narcissia asked, “We’re best friends, aren’t we? Can you tell me what’s going on? You don’t seem … yourself.” Popuri looked at Narcissia with tears in her eyes. 'I’m sorry, Narcissia, but it HAS to be done. I want you to stay alive, but … I need the power.’ Popuri thought as she drew her kunai. “Goodbye, Narcissia.” A scream rang through the forest.
“N-nooooo!” a small girl yelled at her mom, kicking and squirming. “Nooooo! Mommy! He’s my friend!” A young blonde boy looked up. He was never called anyone’s friend before. “I will NOT allow you to see him any more!” her mother yelled back. “Why?!” the small, black-haired girl yelled again, “He never did anything to deserve being called a ‘monster’! He’s a nice, sweet kid!” The blonde boy blinked. He was her friend and … he was sweet? “You don’t get it, do you?!” the mother screamed. “Umi …” her twin brother said, “Let’s just do as mom told us. You’re being troublesome again.” And the blonde boy was left to sit alone. He stared at the ground, a confused look on his face. Umi remembered that very same look, too. That blonde kid always had that look on his face before he was told he was the container for the Kyuubi.
A teenaged girl looked at the ground. Why was she always alone? She didn’t do anything wrong, nor was she a container for any demon. She was just “special” and “too smart” … She sighed. She just wanted one friend. One friend was all she needed. Why wouldn’t anyone be her friend, damn it?!?! She blinked. Did she just see a peach roll over by the bench she was sitting on? She did. Hmm … where did that come from? She picked it up and took out a kunai and started pealing the peach. She then heard a whimper come from behind a tree. She looked up and tipped her head to the side. An injured dog came out from behind the tree. Layla looked at it, painfully. She cut the peach in half and gave it to the dog. It happily ate it. “Oh, you don’t have a tag!” Layla cooed. “Would you like to be my friend? I’ll take good care of you!” she said, excitedly. The dog looked at her and licked her cheek. “Oh, yay!” Layla cheered. “Then … I’ll name you ‘Momo’!”

Popuri, Umiiruka, Kishomaru, his dog, Rakimaru, and their sensei, Layla, stood outside the gates to the Rain Village.. “Well, we’re here.” Layla said as she eyed Popuri. She didn’t look too well. She was nowhere to be seen when they woke up, but appeared out of nowhere, and when she did, it looked as though she had been crying.
The team nodded. They started walking into the village. They came across a huge house with a sign in front of it. “THE HOUSE BUILDER” it read in big, bold blue-green letters.* “Well, looks like this is it.” Kishomaru said. “Yep. Let’s go.” Layla said enthusiastically. “Hai!” the three team members said. Layla knocked on the door. “WHO’S THERE?!” an old, male voice yelled. “Oh … My name is Layla, and my team and I are here to escort you to the Tea Village!” Layla answered. “Oh. Good.” the old man said as he opened the door. He smiled brightly. “I am Ditoro Arai, the house builder.” The four bowed. “Nice to meet you, Ditoro-sama.” the three genin said in union. Ditoro invited them inside his house. “I would like to know your names before we head off,” he said as the six of them sat down, including Rakimaru. “I am Popuri Uchiha,” Popuri said. “I’m Umiiruka Nara,” Umi said, “but I like to be called ‘Umi’ …” “I’m Kishomaru Inuzuka and this is my dog, Rakimaru.” Kishomaru said cheerfully. “And as you know, I’m Layla.” the sensei said as she smiled. “Good, good. We should start getting on our way, shouldn’t we?” Ditoro stated. “Hai!” the genin and their sensei said.
After a good fifteen minutes of escorting the old man to the Tea Village, they suddenly got ambushed. The only problem was, for Popuri, it was an ambush by the Sound Village.

*I’m sorry, I couldn’t think of any other thing to put there so Team 16 can know that it’s Ditoro’s house. XD
^_^ Here’s chapter 2! I made their dreams into their pasts … kinda. I think it came out very well. The first one is Kisho-kun’s (at age 7), second is Popuri’s (first at age 5, then at age 7 … and if you can’t tell what she’d done … well, then you’re stupid. It pained me too much to write that part, though. I can’t think of doing that just to gain power, especially at age SEVEN), third is Umiiruka’s (at age 5 or 6), and the last is Layla’s (at 14 or 15). I needed to put Layla’s in there, but just so you know, this is the only memory of her past she has right now. (SPOOOOILERS. XD) There ARE some that are in completely different time periods, though. Hopefully you can see that. I just got the idea when Draiga-sama said to include some background of the characters. I’m glad he suggested that, too. :3 Thanks! (‘Momo’ means ‘peach’ in Japanese, if you already didn’t know that.)
LOL. Kisho-kun cooed. XD So did Layla, but she’s a girl. Kisho-kun cooing should be funnier. XD
Haha. Stupid Kabuto. Sending sound nin when he knew Popuri was on the job. Well, you’ll meet two my other OCs, though (OOOH, MOOORE SPOILERS. XD). I don’t know their names yet, so bear with me. They’re really just minor characters … who spark more of Popuri’s past …
One’s male and the other one is female. The male one (Shii) usually uses katana, he specializes in taijutsu, but uses many water techniques because he used to live in the Mist Village, but now resides in the Sound Village. The female one (Zurui) uses the same sound techniques as Dosu, Kin and that other guy did … yeah … and she’s not that skilled in taijutsu.

A girl looked around cautiously. ‘Aww, man,’ she thought, ‘where is he?!?! He should have been back by now!!! Where are you Kisho-kun???’
A boy was running through the woods. ‘Am I … late?’ he wondered. He looked back. “Come on, Rakimaru!” he yelled at his dog. Rakimaru yipped. ‘Hopefully … they’re still waiting …’ he thought.
Another girl was running, this time out of a house. She ran into the other girl. “Ow,” the girls said at the same time. “Sorry Popuri-chan,” the girl said. “That’s okay, Umi-chan,” Popuri said. “I’m just waiting for Kishomaru-kun. We were supposed to leave ten minutes ago.” “Yes, I realized that … will he even be here?” “He’s supposed to be.” Popuri said nervously. “At least, I think he is …” Umiiruka looked at Popuri with sympathy. “Don’t look at me like that, Umi-chan,” Popuri mumbled. “S-sorry …” Umiiruka said. She looked away from Popuri and towards the gates to the Hidden Leaf Village. ‘I hope … nothing happened …’ she thought.
Rakimaru yipped again. Kishomaru knew that it meant that they were getting closer to the two girls. “Okay, great job, Rakimaru!” Kishomaru said with great pleasure. ‘Heh, we’re sorry, guys … just a little more …’ he thought.
“Popuri, Umi!!!” came a woman’s voice from behind the two girls. “Yes, Layla-sensei?” Popuri said. “Have you conformed where Kishomaru-kun is?” “N-not yet, Layla-sensei,” Umi replied. “Pity,” their teacher sighed. A few moments later, yell came from Kishomaru, “HEY! WE’RE HERE!!!” Layla blinked a few times. She then saw Kishomaru on top of Umi, while Popuri had avoided the run-in. “Heh, sorry, Umi-chan,” he said as he got up. “Oh, that’s okay …” she said, picking herself up. “Well, what took you so long, Kishomaru?” their teacher asked. “Heh, oh, I … uh … well … see … my brother …” Layla looked at him with an angry look in her eye. “Oh, well, let’s just get going, then; on our mission.” she said. “OKAY!” all three said together. They all started running towards the Rain Village. Their mission was to escort a man from the Rain Village to the Tea Village. He was a famous builder and he was going to build a house in the Tea Village. The Hokage said it might become an A-ranked mission really quickly. There was supposed to be assassins after this man. ‘It’s a good thing I’m a special jonin.’ Layla had thought at the time.
Layla sighed. “Sensei? What’s wrong?” Umi asked. “Huh? Oh, nothing. I just …” she replied and ended with another sigh. Both Umi and Popuri looked at their teacher with sympathy. Popuri was wearing a communications device that could not be seen by any of her ‘comrades’. It started beeping softly. She stopped. “Popuri? What’s -” Umi started, but was cut off by Popuri, who held up her hand. “I’ll catch up to you three … four … later,” she said, remembering to include Rakimaru. Kishomaru looked at her questionably and shrugged. “Just … don’t make us wait forever.” Layla said. “I won’t,” Popuri said, knowing how easily pissed off her teacher can be if she was made to wait. They all nodded at Popuri before dashing off. When they were a safe distance away, Popuri clicked on the mike. “What do you need, ‘Danna’?” she asked the other person. “Ah, good, Popuri, I knew you’d answer quickly.” the voice said. “Well, it is you, ‘Danna’,” she said, “why would I not answer to you?” “Good point, good point,” the voice said.
A smile ran across Kabuto’s face as he continued talking to Popuri.
“I hope she’s okay …” Umiiruka said, looking back. “Umi, you worry too much,” Kishomaru said, “she’ll be fine.” Layla nodded. “After all, she is an Uchiha …” “Yeah, I know … but …” Umi started. Both Layla and Kishomaru looked at the worried face.
“So, Kabuto-danna, why’d you page me all of a sudden? I AM on a mission with my team.” Popuri said. “Yes, I knew that.” “Then, answer the question. Why’d you page me?” “Well, Orochimaru-sama wanted me to notify you that we want you to finish the mission early. It’s about time, you know.” “Oh, I see … so he wants me to stop doing missions now, before I run away from this ‘horrible’ village, and come to help you both?” Popuri said with an angered tone.
“Now, now, Popuri, you mustn’t get hasty. Do the first half of your mission and leave the rest to your team. Other than you, your team is made up of Umiiruka Nara, Kishomaru Inuzuka, and Layla, a special jonin, right? They can handle themselves very well.” Kabuto said with a smirk on his face.
“Okay, okay. I’ll do half of the mission: bring the man safely to the Tea Village. Then, that is when I’ll disband from the Leaf Village once and for all. Even if that means if I have to tell Umi, Layla, and Kishomaru …” she replied. “Very well. I’ll see you later then,” Kabuto’s voice rang out over the microphone before he clicked it off. ‘That went … well … I guess …’ Popuri thought as she also turned off her microphone. She started running in the direction the other three went off in. ‘I hope that wasn’t too long for Layla-sensei …’
“Where is that girl?!” Layla said, angrily. “Uh, don’t worry, Layla-sensei … she’ll turn up!” Umiiruka said, trying to calm down her furious teacher. “If she’s lost or somethin-” she started, but cut off by a voice yelling, “HEY! I’m coming!” Umiiruka smiled at Layla, who looked back and sighed. She stopped, as well as Umiiruka and Kishomaru. Popuri caught up to all three of them. She smiled. “Sorry if I took too long.” “Oh, no, that’s okay!” Umiiruka quickly said before her teacher. Layla sighed. “Okay, let’s keep moving.” “YES, LAYLA-SENSEI,” all three genin said. They quickly ran to the Rain Village.

^_^ I’m going to have fun with this fanfic! I might even write this more than my ‘Nicola Uzumaki’ one. (But that’s because soooooo many people say that she’s a Mary-Sue … D< ) *sighs* Yes, Popuri is an Uchiha, but before you say anything about “Mary-Sue, this, Mary-Sue, that,” I assure you, I have a story of how she survived. Yes, that’s right! XP But, I will not type it out unless you ask me to.
